In the case of our Hotmelt polyester strapping, the polyester yarns are tied together by HotMelt glue. Optimum system strength is attained when used with galvanized metal buckles. As polyester strapping offers similar values in tensile strength, it has already replaced steel strapping in some areas. With a 25 mm filament-strapping (e.g. WG58), a tensile strength of up to 1000 daN can be achieved. In terms of elongation, polyester strapping nearly catches up on steel strapping, as well. Additionally, it has the advantage of lower cost as well as that it does not rust. Only the handling requires a little more effort: While steel strapping can be sealed easily via notching, a metal clamp is needed for polyester strapping. For glued filament strapping galvanized tightening buckles are necessary. Here, the threading process can be described as rather costly compared to steel strapping, especially for beginners.


Besides the fact that glued polyester strapping does not rust and also is inexpensive compared to steel strapping- regarding the strapping itself as well as the strapping device, it offers an additional advantage: the tensioning can be adjusted any time. This is also a reason why this product is of great interest and very popular among the timber processing industry. During storage wood loses a lot of humidity and therefore also volume. Every other strapping band would loosen in time and could not be adjusted – polyester strapping can.
